今回はD.D.D.

How many more times will my heart beat before it stops?
A provocative and high-adrenaline performance inspired by the interaction between the heart, breathing and muscles – the very foundation of all life forms and also its limitations.
On a small square table, Takao Kawaguchi, a member of the acclaimed artist collective Dumb Type, ties and unties “body knots” made by joining his limbs, neck and torso. He also repeats movements to the point of physical exhaustion.
Alongside him, champion khoomei (Tuvan double-throat singing) performer and sound artist, Fuyuki Yamakawa picks up and amplifies the sound of his heartbeat with an electronic stethoscope, using the sound to trigger the lighting of lightbulbs. The pace of his heartbeats is in turn dependent on the rhythm of his khoomei.
Together, they journey on a surreal exploration of the origins of life by forseeing its end. D.D.D. was selected as one of Japan’s Three Best Performances of the Year 2004 by dance critic Kazuko Kuniyoshi in Dance magazine and was presented in the Venice Biennale International Contemporary Dance Festival in 2006.
Grab pre- and post-show drinks at Club D.D.D. and listen to sounds from the underground.
